Hi,

We are new to the list so please excuse me if this has been discussed.

How do you get the hinges off the hatchback?

When we turn the connector from below the fastener just spins so we can't back it out.

We just bought our CE on 6/12, so we are just learning about the hatchback hinge issue. We had a tough time getting the hatch open. The hinges look like they spread about an inch from what I saw in a CAD drawing in an earlier post.

We will be posting our progress on the restoration at www.pfoust.com

Thanks, Tammy

We found the installation instructions for Simpson36's hinges (we ordered a pair) and drilled out the screw and preserved the exterior button.

:) I've been rather fortunate with my hinges. So far all I had to do was take them off one at a time and use a clamp to squeeze them back. I took a measurement before and only had to squeeze them in about a 1/4" to 3/8". :x The biggest pain was the constant adjusting of the latch toward the back until I got it right. Now every time I pull the release the glass pops up no problem :D . Just take one small project at a time and hang in there.
