Can anyone tell me if the 'Low Fuel' light on the instrument panel should come on when the ignition switch is in the run position before cranking the car?

eamespm,

First... Welcome to the forum.

To your question. As 82ColEd said is true in his second post but no issue with his vette. Here's what our owners manual says on page 2-18.

Low Fuel Indicator Light
The low fuel warning light (located in the center instrument cluster) is designed to glow when level has dropped to approximately 7.6L (2 gallons).

This did work for me because I was in a rush to get to Elmira, New York years ago and never fueled up until I hit at the nose 405 miles when the light came on. Besides I also wanted to see if it worked correctly. Had no problems. :)

Thanks for your insight on this. I was trying to get the car ready for a NCRS judging event and couldn't remember if it came on breify before starting the car. I have heard that it did and also that it didn't. Hopefully a few more CE owner will chime in with their opinion.

Have a great day!
