Hey All CE friends..

I have a (DUMB!) question that might have been answered already, but i was wondering if any of you know for sure.. I had posted this on the CAC (here-> http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/for ... p?t=105671 ) already, but do 82 (CE's and others) have a functioning Choke light in the tach?

Most seem to agree that GM reused a 81 tach and didnt wire up the Choke light with a bulb (as the ECM provides rich, higher idle when cold).

Whats your take ?

I know for a fact (looking in the '82 CE manual) it has a bulb #194 for the choke light. So it should be working. Just don't see anywhere in the manual about the choke or a problem with it's conjunction.

Weird...

I found the bulb number on Lamp Bulb Data page 7-4. Third to the last.

I'm still looking into this. :?

Mike, stop looking..

Twinny (Twin Turbo) confirmed it..

All 82s are like that.

It's just the bean counters at work, how much cheaper would it be to use all those earlier style tacho faces and leave out the bulb wiring/or have a whole new batch made without the choke light? They just silk screened the logo on, cheap enough.

There is NO bulb or harness for it, there's no bulb control for it on the ECM. It's a dud.

You should see all the useless stuff on an 84 cluster. Remember, these things were designed/being produced when GM was still not sure which engine to put in. 84s even have a non working choke light...and then some:
