The Vin is 1G1AY0785C5118019.I know that in 1982 little did I know that my Corvette was built.Of course I couldn't have afforded it then and had to wait fo two owners to enjoy it before I could take delivery.

Your VIN Report:

Country (1): USA
Corporation (G): General Motors
Restraint System (A): Active (manual) belts
VIN Check Value: 5
Division (1): Chevrolet
Car Line (Y): Corvette
Body Style (07): Collector Edition Hatchback
Engine Type (8): L98-350ci,200hp
Model Year (C): 1982
Plant (5): Bowling Green, KY
Sequence Number: 118019

Your VIN Check Value (5) indicates
a Valid VIN!

Unless someone here knows more, I think you might have to try to get your build sheet to determine the actual build date.

The build date for your car was October 26, 1981, its birthday will be next Tuesday.

Ok, now i am confused: Two things:
L98 ? I thought we all had a L-83 in the front ? Hu ?
And how do you come up with a built date in 1981 ? Or is that when the Vin was 'born'? My title info (from recreation throughout many countries and years) shows a first registration as of June 1982, was that just a guesstimate ?
:?
I'll add my VIN so you guys can run it for me (Please?):
1G1AY0781C5115991

So Copters VIN is after mine, so mine must have been built before ?
:? :?

I screwed up with the birthday calculator. vin 115991 was born June 11, 1982. Your vin 118019 was born July 6, 1982. These dates were the days they came off the assembly line.

I believe the L89 vs L83 is a flaw in the system used to look it up.

Stefan,
I believe Francis said on another thread that he imported his vette from California in the summer. My guess he bought it in California.

Hello Stefan,
I bought my collector in California this summer and imported it from the US to Belgium. He was stored in a container and shipped over in a containership from the port of Long Beach to Antwerp in Belgium. It was a 25 days trip overseas.
My collector has only 9.500 miles on the odometer and is in a perfect showroom condition with a NCRS Top-flight award. You can find a picture of my vette on the C3-registry 2006 calendar. I have also the complete history of the car, the window sticker and build sheet.
Here in Belgium there are only 3 collector editions registered and we have 2 corvette clubs. Take a look at www.npcc.be and you see more about corvettes in Belgium.
I own also a '77 white corvette coupe and a '71 yellow corvette convertible 454 ci big block, so I 'am a lucky guy !!!

Good Gawd Man.. I am envious (Low mileage, sticker, built sheet and the history)!!
Reason i was asking was when i bought my CE i did so in Germany, it had been shipping much the same way from Miami, bit more miles on it at the time (70k) and not a NCRS car.. Mine used to be one of 3 also, but now she is back in the US, but we might take her with us again when we move back over. Maybe we can get together and do a 82CE club over there.. I dont think there was one when i left in 97, but there might be one now..
Very cool !
